Robert Feurle Takes Over as Wolfspeed CEO

Aiming to stabilize the business, drive growth, and reassure the market

Wolfspeed’s board of directors has appointed Robert Feurle as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective May 1, 2025, following a comprehensive internal and external search for candidates. Interim Executive Chairman Thomas Werner said the board chose Feurle for his proven track record in delivering “significant operational enhancements and profitability improvements” across multiple high-profile semiconductor businesses. Werner noted that Feurle’s history of driving success and operational excellence in previous roles was “a significant contributor to our decision to appoint him as CEO,” expressing confidence that Feurle is the right leader for Wolfspeed’s next chapter.

Feurle’s industry background was seen as an ideal fit for Wolfspeed’s strategic needs. He is a 20+ year semiconductor veteran who has led large global operations in the power electronics sector, with extensive experience in silicon carbide (SiC) technologies. Most recently an executive at ams-OSRAM, he also held senior roles at Infineon Technologies, Micron, Qimonda, and Siemens, where he managed large teams and spearheaded product introductions in high-voltage markets. During his tenure at Infineon, he became “intimately familiar with the silicon carbide industry,” even participating in a proposed Infineon acquisition of Wolfspeed’s SiC division in 2016.

His deep SiC experience and global perspective “makes him uniquely suited to advance Wolfspeed’s global leadership in silicon carbide technology,” according to the company. The board viewed Feurle’s combination of operational acumen and SiC expertise as crucial for navigating Wolfspeed’s current challenges, including improving its financial performance and accelerating a path to positive free cash flow, while positioning the company for long-term growth.
