Arm, in partnership with major industry players and academic institutions, has announced a global initiative titled the Semiconductor Education Alliance to address the escalating global shortage of semiconductor engineers and tech talent.
Key stakeholders, such as Anglia Ruskin University, Cornell University, and Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute, among others, are joining forces to create a next-generation workforce in the semiconductor industry.
The initiative comes as a response to the projected shortfall of 67,000 workers in the semiconductor industry by 2030, as outlined in a study by the Semiconductor Industry Association and Oxford Economics. This Alliance will foster cross-industry and academia collaborations to build accelerated educational pathways, including competency frameworks tailored to specific geographies, and tools to support future talent pools.
It will also focus on fostering diversity, offering new opportunities for learning through internships, co-op placements, and free massive open online course (MOOC) platforms."
